The ensemble, which was founded in 2008 by its conductor Uwe Heller, consists exclusively of highly experienced singers who interpret multiple-part settings of often unknown a cappella works, to a very high standard.

Their repertoire ranges from works by Tallis, Byrd, Palestrina, Gesualdo and Schütz to contemporary compositions, which can include commissions. The ensemble is also known for the wide stylistic and thematic diversity of their programmes.

The singers, whose sound is, characterised by its elegance and purity of tone, are matched according to the requirements of each work, with solo parts sung by members of the ensemble.

The name, ‘ClaritasVocalis’, or 'vocal brightness', is epitomised by the ensemble’s combination of clarity and perfect balance achieved by only a few voices.

CV has already gained success in competitions. In the 2011 Choir Festival Competition of Hessen, the ensemble won First Prize in the Chamber Choir category, in addition being awarded a special prize for the best interpretation of the compulsory piece and the honorary prize from the Hessen Government.
