Uwe Heller initially studied Music Education and German in Frankfurt where he also received his first conducting lessons with Prof. W. Toll. Subsequently he successfully completed his conducting studies with Prof. W. Schäfer (voice Prof. B. Possemeyer) as part of his artistic concert diploma.

As a singer in numerous renowned choirs, Uwe Heller has worked with many prominent musicians, (involving such choirs as Camerata Vocale Freiburg, Cologne Chamber Choir, Chamber Choir of Europe, and Stuttgart Chamber Choir). Concert tours have taken him to a number of European countries, South Africa, Japan and Brazil, and most recently to the Baltic States, Israel, Denmark, southern France, Poland and Switzerland.

He also gained valuable experience by participating in international masterclasses for choral conducting given by K. Suttner (D), W. Schäfer (D), H. Rilling (D), R. Sund (S), A. Eby (S), M. Guinand (VEN), F. Bernius (D), H.-Chr. Rademann (D), S. Halsey (UK) and J. Miller (US). Other courses he attended included those given by  S.-D. Sandström (S) and V. Tormis (EST).

During his studies in 2008, Uwe Heller founded the Frankfurt Chamber Choir, ClaritasVocalis, which has already achieved success in national and international competitions; First Place and special award from the Hessen Government at the 2011 Hessen Choir Festival, invitation to and successful participation in the International Competition for Chamber Choirs in Mosbach, First Prize overall, plus special prize for the 'Best Hessen Choir' in the International Choir Competition of the 2012 German Choral Festival, First Prize 2013 in the Choir Competition of Hessen, 2014 First Prize in the most important Choir Competition of Germany.


In 2007 Uwe Heller came third in the conducting competition of the Frankfurt Mendelssohn Society, and in 2008 and 2011 he was a finalist in the conducting competition of the German Music Council, conducting, amongst others, the Berlin Philharmonic Choir. In 2010, he was a member of ‘European Young Conductors’ and and as a result took part in the 2012 International Masterclass in Berlin, working with the Berlin Radio Choir.

In 2012 he conducted ClaritasVocalis in a televised Christmas broadcast in cooperation with Hessischer Rundfunk.


Uwe Heller directs and works with other choirs of different types, in Frankfurt and beyond, both as guest and rehearsal conductor. He is also a teacher for choral workshops.
